Describes the dedication speech given by President Roosevelt on September 2, 1940. It included many references to conservation, but also to freedom and the threat it was facing. The speech was meant to prepare the nation for war as well as to celebrate the birth of a national park. Includes a photograph of spectators at the Rockefeller Memorial.
