Description

This story, excerpted from the book Among Loyal Mountaineers, recounts the story of a detachment of Confederate soldiers who were given hospitality from Unionist mountain folk because they saluted the flag as they came to confiscate guns. It is preceded by a photograph and brief biography of Will McTeer and three photographs of Miller's Cove, where the incident occurred.  The story is republished in the 2011 fall-winter issue.
